The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) Fuel Cell Technologies Office (FCTO) held the Electrolytic Hydrogen Production Workshop on February 27–28, 2014, at The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden, Colorado, to discuss and share information on the research, development, and demonstration (RD&D) needs for enabling low-cost, effective hydrogen production from all types of water electrolysis systems, both centralized and forecourt. Experts from industry and national laboratories representing polymer electrolyte membrane, traditional liquid alkaline, solid oxide electrolysis, alkaline exchange membrane, and reversible systems attended the workshop.
