At the University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder), our team is comprised of undergraduate engineers eager to participate in the U.S. Department of Energy's Collegiate Wind Competition (CWC) for our year-long senior capstone projects. Our university first participated in the CWC in 2021 as a learn-along team and then as a competing team in 2022 and 2023—winning third place overall in 2023. Our team is united by a passion for renewable energy technology and the desire to address the climate crisis.

By participating in the CWC, we go "deep in the weeds" with the technical details of turbine design, step back and look at the big picture of wind energy project development, and spread the word about wind energy through events, partnerships, outreach, and even a new podcast, called Get Blown Away, in which, for our second episode, we interviewed Colorado State Sen. Chris Hansen about energy policy. We are excited to continue to compete in the CWC in 2024 and for the chance to contribute to a future in which renewable resources account for most energy generation and a smart grid supports the world’s energy needs.
