The combined Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) program provides competitive awards to small businesses or individuals for the development and commercialization of new ideas and innovative research related to building technologies.
While other federal or DOE SBIR/STTR programs may operate on different schedules, EERE provides funding to competitively selected clean energy technology small businesses on a once-per-year cycle.

The Technology Commercialization Fund (TCF) is a competitive funding opportunity designed to increase the number of energy technologies developed at DOE’s national labs that graduate to commercial development and achieve commercial impact. The TCF will enhance the Department’s technology transitions system with a forward-looking and competitive approach to lab-industry partnerships.
