Qualified Software for Calculating Commercial Building Tax Deductions

This webpage lists qualified computer software for calculating commercial building energy and power cost savings that meet the requirements for 179D. To submit software for consideration to be added to this list, please read the relevant Requirements and Submission Process for Qualified Software.

The listed software can be used to model systems and buildings conforming to the requirements of the 179D tax deduction, for new construction or building upgrade projects following the Traditional (Modeling) Pathway. Upgrade projects following the alternative compliance pathway will use measured site energy use data to evaluate savings rather than qualified computer software. Software providers can submit new versions for approval at their discretion.

The current list contains qualified computer software for projects for which the Reference Standard is ASHRAE 90.1-2007. DOE will determine at a future date which of the listed software are qualified computer software for projects for which the Reference Standard is ASHRAE 90.1-2019. Use Announcement 2023-1 to determine the appropriate Reference Standard.
