State Working Group
To help states approach GEBs, the National Association of State Energy Officials (NASEO) and the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) established the NASEO-NARUC Grid-interactive Efficient Building Working Group, with the support of the Building Technologies Office and the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). Through the GEB Working Group, State Energy Officials and state utility regulators can explore GEB technologies and applications; identify opportunities and impediments (technical and non-technical); identify and express state priorities and interests; inform policy, planning, programs and regulation; consider unregulated electric sector investments and implications; and advance GEB road map and pilot options.

Utility Working Group
Utilities and program administrators would benefit greatly from creating programs that accurately value both energy efficiency and grid flexibility benefits of GEBs. Instead, these programs remain segregated with separate goals and objectives. BTO, along with the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) have developed a working group to help facilitate these connections.

Better Buildings Renewable Integration Working Group
Grid-interactive efficient buildings (GEBs) combine energy efficiency, strategic integration of renewables, and demand flexibility technologies and techniques to dynamically reduce and shift building energy use. GEB measures can lower energy costs and increase building performance while providing grid services that increase the reliability, flexibility, and resiliency of our electricity system. The Renewables Integration Technology Research Team is connecting researchers and commercial building partners to collect data, conduct demonstrations, and share information about GEB implementation.
