On Jan. 19–20, 2017, the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE’s) Bioenergy Technologies Office, Vehicle Technologies Office, and the National Laboratory Co-Optima Team, hosted a stakeholder listening day for the Co-Optimization of Fuels & Engines (Co-Optima) initiative.
The Co-Optima initiative aims to simultaneously transform both transportation fuels and vehicles in order to maximize performance and energy efficiency, minimize environmental impact, and accelerate widespread adoption of innovative combustion strategies. The vision is to set the stage for a rapid transition to advanced fuels and propulsion systems for every vehicle on the road.
The Co-Optima Stakeholder Listening Day provided technical status updates to stakeholders and requested targeted feedback on specific technical deliverables that will inform research and development priorities. Attendees contributed input on the draft multi-year strategic plan, as well as the challenges and opportunities related to co-optimization of fuels and engines.
