Another bioenergy industry training and workforce development resource within the U.S. Department of Energy's Bioenergy Technologies Office (BETO) Bioenergy Career Map is the Algae Technology Educational Consortium (ATEC). This consortium is a collaboration between BETO, the Algae Foundation, and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.

As the bioenergy industry grows, demand for trained algae researchers, scientists, and engineers increases. ATEC’s goal is to fill this demand by developing educational programs to strengthen industry workforce capabilities and by focusing on the skills required to support research and development and commercialization of algal products.
