The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Bioenergy Technologies Office (BETO) is looking for a dynamic, innovative and experienced individual to join our team as a Management and Program Analyst. The position would support BETO on the development and coordination of Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) tax credit guidance relevant to biofuels and clean fuel production. 

The individual will coordinate with life-cycle analysis modeling teams at DOE and DOE national laboratories to assess impacts of biofuel production and use. In addition, this position would lead interagency collaboration on climate-smart agriculture practices and other issues to update the Greenhouse Gases, Regulated Emissions, and Energy Use in Transportation (GREET) model relevant to biofuels and subsequent IRA Tax Credit guidance roll-out and implementation. 

Additional responsibilities would include:

  • Serving as principal advisor to the BETO Director on biofuels-related tax credit issues.
  • Identifying, analyzing and evaluating key issues, decision points and options concerning biofuels-related tax credits implementation.
  • Providing recommendations to DOE decision-makers to inform DOE positions on biofuels-related tax credits.
  • Developing written summaries and memoranda, and conducting briefings for DOE officials to establish consensus positions on biofuels-related tax credits.
  • Representing DOE through written communications and meetings with other U.S. government agencies and external stakeholders.
  • Managing and overseeing national laboratory-conducted analyses and updates for GREET.

This position is a two-year term appointment with an option to extend for an additional two years. It can be located at DOE’s Headquarters in Washington, D.C. or the Golden Field Office in Golden, Colorado. Periodic multi-day travel is expected. Applicants must be U.S. citizens.
