The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Bioenergy Technologies Office (BETO) and Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) 2023 Billion-Ton Report (BT23) webinar recording, presentations, and transcript are now available. The BT23 virtual webinar was held on April 16, 2024.

During the webinar, BETO Director Dr. Valerie Sarisky-Reed and BETO Technology Manager Dr. Mark Elless, along with ORNL's Dr. Matthew Langholtz and Maggie Davis, discussed the content of the report and its significance to the economy, environment, and industry. The BT23 Report was released in March at the Advanced Bioeconomy Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C.

BT23 is the fourth report in a series of assessments of potential biomass resources available in the United States. This groundbreaking report finds that the United States has the potential to produce more than 1 billion tons of biomass annually and could triple bioenergy production to cover approximately 15% of future U.S. energy needs.
