The Residential Network member City of Holland, Michigan, recently shared the accomplishments it achieved through the Board of Public Works’ Energy Optimization program since 2009. Results showed that customers exceeded the Board of Public Works’ goal of saving 10.8 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, and also saved $12.7 million.
The city is participating in the Georgetown University Energy Prize, which has resulted in heightened awareness of energy conservation and led to an increase in resident participation in the Energy Optimization program. The Board of Public Works also recently updated its Home Energy Monitoring kits that can be checked out at libraries with infrared thermometers.
