AMO’s CESMII Institute Selects First Round of Smart Manufacturing R&D Projects
The Clean Energy Smart Manufacturing Innovation Institute (CESMII) announced nearly $10 million for the first round of project selections to help advance its goals and enable U.S. manufacturers to develop and implement innovations that will advance U.S. manufacturing competitiveness, sustainability, and innovation.
Out of 41 submitted proposals across six technical areas of interest, ten projects were selected to bridge the gaps in smart manufacturing technologies facing U.S. industries today.

AMO’s Clean Energy Manufacturing Innovation Institute for Reducing Embodied-energy And Decreasing Emissions (REMADE) is hosting a webinar on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, from 11 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. EDT. Join sustainability expert David Refkin – Resource Recycling Systems' senior affiliate consultant, REMADE Institute's Strategic Advisory Committee chair, and Governance Committee member – and Dr. Michael Free – technical leader for the recycling & recovery arm of the REMADE Institute and a professor for the Department of Metallurgical Engineering at the University of Utah. David and Michael will explore the challenges and opportunities that exist in the current global recycling landscape and discuss the vast, cross-industry implications.
Industrial Assessment Centers Adapt to Aid Puerto Rico Hurricane Recovery
In September 2017, Puerto Rico’s manufacturing sector was hit particularly hard by Hurricane Maria. In response, one of AMO’s Industrial Assessment Centers’ (IAC) satellite centers, Universidad del Turabo, used its energy management expertise in new ways to help aid recovery efforts.
