DOE Announces Second Round of Entrepreneurship Program at Oak Ridge National Laboratory
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced the opening of the application period for innovators to join the second cohort of Innovation Crossroads(IC), a two-year post-doctoral research program at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).
IC, one of DOE’s Lab-Embedded Entrepreneurship Programs, embeds the next generation of top technical postdoctoral talent within ORNL as entrepreneurial researchers to address fundamental energy and manufacturing challenges identified by industry.
Funded with up to $2.5 million, which is subject to appropriations, DOE plans to select up to five post-doctoral innovators to work at ORNL. View the solicitation and submission instructions to apply by October 30, 2017. For more information, sign up for an information webinar on September 28, 2017.
Applications Open for Midwest Entrepreneurship Program to Drive Technology Innovation
The Energy Department announced the opening of the application period for innovators to join the second cohort of Chain Reaction Innovations (CRI) at Argonne National Laboratory (ANL). CRI, one of the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Lab-Embedded Entrepreneurship Programs, embeds top technical talent with ANL to perform early-stage research and development (R&D) that may lead to the launch of energy or manufacturing businesses in the future.
DOE plans to select up to six postdoctoral innovators to join Chain Reaction Innovations. View the solicitation and submission instructions and apply by Friday, October 13, 2017.

RESCHEDULED - CAMX 2017 Due to Inclement Weather
Due to Hurricane Irma's impact on Florida, the Composites and Advanced Materials Expo (CAMX) has been postponed to December 12-14, 2017, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL. We send our thoughts to residents affected by the storm, and we look forward to participating in the rescheduled conference. For the latest information, visit CAMX's website.
Secretary Perry Announces High Performance Computing for Materials Program
U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Rick Perry recently announced a new high-performance computing (HPC) initiative that will help U.S. industry accelerate the development of new or improved materials for use in severe environments.
Companies will be selected to participate in HPC for Materials program (HPC4Mtls) through an open, two-stage, competitive process. DOE will hold a closed-press workshop on October 12, 2017 in Pittsburgh, PA to provide more information on the program and engage U.S.-based companies, industry, universities, and government stakeholders.
