AMO Seeks Feedback for Potential Focus Areas for Early Stage Research and Development of Processed Clean Water
The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), on behalf of its Advanced Manufacturing Office (AMO), seeks feedback on technologies with the potential for early stage research and development (R&D) that if successfully advanced could impact the cost-effective and energy efficient availability of clean water. This request for information (RFI) targets R&D for processing technologies used to create clean water from a variety of sources such as surface water, ground water, brackish water, seawater, wastewater and produced water for a range of applications including municipal drinking water, agricultural uses, and industrial needs. This is solely a request for information and not a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA). EERE is not accepting applications. Responses to this RFI must be submitted electronically no later than 5:00 PM EST on July 28, 2017.
AMO Announces Funding for Six New Lab-Industry Industrial Partners
The Department Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy’s (EERE) Advanced Manufacturing Office (AMO) announced funding for six new lab-industry industrial pairs as an extension of the second cohort of the Technologist in Residence (TIR) program. Senior technical staff member from industry will be paired with a senior technologist from a National Lab to identify technical challenges of the company and propose new collaborative R&D efforts to advance science-based solutions to the company’s issues. This partnership facilitates lab and industry researchers to work together to more deeply understand the true nature of industry’s most important problems and national lab capabilities that can be best brought to bear to solve them.
For more information about the TIR program and the second cohort of partnerships, read our blog.
DOE Announces $72 Million for Innovative Research and Development by Small Businesses
The Department of Energy (DOE) announced 73 grants totaling $72 million to 68 small businesses in 24 states. Funded through DOE’s Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs, the selections are for Phase II research and development. The Advanced Manufacturing Office (AMO) sponsored six of the selected programs over the topic membranes and materials for energy efficiency.
More information about the array of projects is available here.
REGISTER TODAY: AMO Program Peer Review and Technical Resources Network Forum – June 13-15
Technology experts from the industrial and academic sectors are invited to review the R&D Advanced Manufacturing Office’s (AMO) Program at AMO’s Peer Review from June 13-15, 2017 in the Sheraton Pentagon City Hotel in Arlington, VA. AMO’s Research and Development element will make presentations on their work. Presentations will also be provided on a range of elements of the Program.
