On December 3, 2008, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Health, Safety and Security’s Office of Enforcement issued a Preliminary Notice of Violation to Bechtel National, Inc. for violations of 10 C.F.R. 830 associated with inadequacies in the fabrication and procurement of black cell piping and the flow down of design requirements into project specifications at the Hanford Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant (WTP) at DOE's Hanford site.
