Assessment of Occupational Injury and Illness Recordkeeping and Reporting at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Worker Safety and Health Assessments, within the independent Office of Enterprise Assessments, conducted an independent assessment of injury and illness reporting and recording by Nuclear Waste Partnership, LLC, DOE’s management and operating contractor at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant.  This assessment, conducted at the request of the DOE Carlsbad Field Office, included an onsite data collection visit on March 13-16, 2017.  The objective of this assessment was to evaluate the quality and accuracy of safety performance metric data available to DOE and DOE contractor management for feedback and improvement analysis and decision-making purposes.
