Intergovernmental & External Affairs

The Department of Energy's Intergovernmental and External Affairs (IGEA) Team strives to ensure access by states, localities, territorial and Tribal governments, environmental, industry and consumer interests to Departmental processes concerned with the development and implementation of national energy policies and program implementation.  The IGEA Team also provides responsive and timely information relating to stakeholders to Departmental officials on general energy issues as well as information on energy and Departmental programs to those stakeholders.

Who We Serve: 

The IGEA Team works closely with the following:

- Governors and State Agencies, including State Energy Offices;

- State Legislative members and Staff;

- Mayors, City Council members, and administrative staff for cities larger than 250,000 residents (or the largest cities in each state/territory);

- Territorial and tribal governments; and,

- Environmental, industrial, business and consumer stakeholders.
