State, Local, Tribal, and Territorial Program 2021 Year in Review

Secure energy infrastructure is critical to national and economic security. The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) recognizes that energy security planning and preparedness at the local and state level is one of the most important factors in building a more resilient energy sector that can prevent, mitigate, withstand, respond to, and recover from any disruptions – manmade or physical.

DOE’s Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response’s (CESER) State, Local, Tribal, and Territorial (SLTT) Program supports state energy security and resilience planning, advances emergency preparedness, and strengthens coordination. The program works with multiple stakeholders to develop resources specific to SLTT needs – including governors and their energy advisors, state energy office directors, public utility commissioners, state legislators, emergency managers, municipal utilities, and tribal leaders.

In 2022, CESER is continuing to work with SLTT partners to address the most compelling energy, climate, and cybersecurity challenges facing the sector.
