January 6, 2022In 2021, more than 280 industry and government officials in the energy sector participated in the ninth iteration of DOE’s annual all-hazards exercise series, Clear Path. Every year, this energy security and resilience exercise brings stakeholders together to examine current policies and procedures and improve coordination between government and industry partners.
This year’s scenario – a 9.0 magnitude earthquake in the Pacific Northwest U.S. – challenged participants through five interactive exercises focused on core capabilities including situational assessment, public messaging, operational communications, economic recovery, and logistics and supply chain management. In addition to the energy sector, the exercise also engaged partners from the water, transportation, and communications sectors.
