The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced additional Biden-Harris Administration appointees that have joined the team to help build a more prosperous and equitable clean energy future for the American people.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) today announced additional Biden-Harris Administration appointees that have joined the team to help build a more prosperous and equitable clean energy future for the American people.
“With these new hires, DOE continues to build on the progress we’ve made over the past seven months to accelerate the transition to a clean energy economy and curb the climate crisis through cutting-edge innovation and expertise,” said Chief of Staff Tarak Shah. “We’re focused on building a diverse, dynamic, and ambitious team that will lead the effort to meet the Biden Administration’s net-zero emissions goals and forge the way for a clean energy future.”
New appointees and their roles are listed below:
Lizbett Chavez, Social Content Manager
Liz Chavez is a South Central Los Angeles native who most recently served as Deputy Digital Director for the Office of Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, where she worked to advance the Mayor’s digital objectives and roll out COVID-19 initiatives. Previously, Chavez has held digital roles in local, state, and national political campaigns. Chavez was the first in her family to attend college. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from California State University, Channel Islands.
Hannah Reid, Special Assistant to the Deputy Chiefs of Staff
Hannah Reid has spent most of her career working in electoral organizing, including as a Campus Organizer for NextGen Florida in 2018, a South Carolina Field Organizer for Pete Buttigieg’s presidential campaign, and most recently as the Regional Organizing Director for South Pinellas County for the 2020 Florida Democratic Coordinated Campaign. Originally from Indiana, Reid graduated from the University of Tampa with a B.S. in Environmental Science.
Monica Sanchez, Director of External Affairs, Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy
Monica Sanchez joins the Biden-Harris administration with eight years of Capitol Hill experience. She most recently served as a member of Chair Raúl M. Grijalva’s (D-Ariz.) communications team on the House Natural Resources Committee, where she worked to combat the climate crisis, elevate environmental justice, defend tribal rights and Insular areas, and protect public lands, oceans, and wildlife. A proud New Mexican, Sanchez previously served as communications and policy staff for Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) and then-Congressman Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) and began her career on Capitol Hill as a Congressional Hispanic Institute Public Policy Fellow. Sanchez is a Brown University alumna, where she graduated with honors in education and ethnic studies.
Gordon Trowbridge, Director of Public Affairs, National Nuclear Security Administration
Gordon Trowbridge spent more than 20 years as a newspaper journalist covering government, politics and national security. He has served as speechwriter and communications adviser for Senator Carl Levin (D-M.I.), communications director at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, deputy press secretary at the Pentagon, and senior communications adviser to Rep. Elissa Slotkin. He is a native of Columbus, Ind., and a graduate of Michigan State University.
Victoria Vinall, Deputy Press Secretary, Office of Public Affairs
Victoria Vinall most recently worked as Maine Press Secretary for the Biden-Harris campaign. She previously worked in communications for the Jane Goodall Institute and NextGen America. She graduated from Dickinson College with a B.A. in Political Science and is a Northern Virginia native.
