SIMI VALLEY, CALIFORNIA - "In June, Secretary Perry made a commitment to visit the Department's Energy Technology Engineering Center (ETEC) at the Santa Susana Field Laboratory to get a first-hand look at the site and learn more about the remaining cleanup challenges. Today, he fulfilled that promise, becoming the first Secretary of Energy to visit the site. The visit occurred in coordination with Governor Newsom’s office, representatives from the California Environmental Protection Agency, Senator Feinstein’s office and Congressman Sherman’s office, along with state and local elected representatives from the nearby communities. During the tour the group had the opportunity to see the site and discuss potential steps that can be taken to make progress. The Secretary thanked all parties for joining him today and reiterated this Administration’s commitment to partnering with the State to understand and address these cleanup efforts." -- Shaylyn Hynes, DOE Press Secretary.
