We bring the Arctic to the Department of Energy and the Department of Energy to the Arctic. We are a resource and an advocate for the U.S. Arctic, including locating funding opportunities and effectively addressing Arctic energy issues. Areas of Focus
Arctic Energy Ambassadors
The Arctic Energy Ambassadors program provides training and support for 12 experienced practitioners from Alaska to boost energy security and community engagement in collaboration with the Department of Energy, Denali Commission, and Alaska Municipal League. The Ambassadors were selected in January 2024 for a two-year term, during which they are developing place-based collaborative energy leadership, connecting resources and sharing knowledge. DOE in the Arctic
Learn about the numerous engagements that the U.S. Department of Energy and our National Laboratories have underway in the Arctic. From building workforce capacity to implementing energy installations to advancing research around permafrost and Arctic climate, the “Department of Everything” is delivering on deployment, energy security, and research for the high north.
International Collaborations
Alaska makes the United States an Arctic country. The United States seeks an Arctic region that is peaceful, stable, prosperous, and cooperative and addresses climate change and environmental protection.
