ORSSAB began discussing the need for additional CERCLA waste disposal capacity on the Oak Ridge Reservation at its December 2010 Environmental Management and Stewardship Committee meeting and has continued to follow developments and correspondence among the three agencies since that time. The board considered its four previous recommendations on the topic as well as information provided by DOE at the April 2018 board meetings in producing this recommendation. ORSSAB supports onsite disposal of Oak Ridge Environmental Management Program CERCLA wastes that meet the onsite waste acceptance criteria. We ask that DOE-Oak Ridge consider the five recommendations set forth in this document.
