Laurie Bevins, director, office of business operations, Carlsbad Field Office.
What branch did you serve in? How many years of service?
US Air Force, 9.5 years.
Most memorable event/moment during your service?
I was deployed for United Nations Special Commission No-Fly Zone mission supporting the KC-10 refueling mission which provide aerial refueling to US and coalition forces.
How has your military service helped prepare you for the job you do in EM?
Being in the military gave me the ability to quickly change directions as circumstances change, have a questioning attitude and leadership skills to help me in all the roles I’ve held.
When did you begin working for EM and what got you interested in the cleanup mission?
I started with EM in late 2017; I enjoy working on projects and seeing the progress through to completion. When I started, one of the projects I worked on was Brookhaven and to see the progress on that has been gratifying.
