DOE ordered US Restaurant Group Inc. (“USR Brands”) to pay a $15,000 civil penalty after USR Brands had manufactured and distributed in commerce in the U.S. multiple units of the noncompliant panels for walk-in freezers basic model 100mm. The Order adopted a Settlement Agreement, which reflected settlement terms between DOE and USR Brands.

On September 17, 2024, DOE issued a Notice of Noncompliance Determination to USR Brands finding that the panels for walk-in freezers basic model 100mm does not comply with applicable energy conservation standards based on containing wall, ceiling, and door insulation of less than R-32. USR Brands provided DOE records showing the number of units USR Brands distributed. Federal law subjects manufacturers and private labelers to civil penalties if those parties distribute in the U.S. products that do not meet applicable energy conservation standards.
