Long-Pulse International Stellarator Facilities

$3.6M for Three Awards

The funded projects will use diagnostics on the Wendelstein 7-X stellarator in Greifswald, Germany to study ion-heat, particle, momentum, and impurity transport in a wide range of scenarios; measure core turbulence to study turbulence reduction and divertor detachment; and study neoclassical and turbulent transport and the equilibrium radial electric field. This information will be used to validate theoretical models and predictive computer codes for eventual design of a stellarator fusion pilot plant.
