EIS-0562: Palisades Nuclear Restart Project, Van Buren County, Michigan

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Loan Programs Office (LPO) has issued a Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to consider the environmental impacts associated with providing potential financial assistance (a federal loan) in support of the restart of the Palisades Nuclear Plant in Van Buren, County, Michigan. 

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has issued its Record of Decision to issue a loan guarantee under the Energy Policy Act of 2005 (EPAct 2005), as amended, specifically the Energy Infrastructure Reinvestment Program, to Holtec Palisades, LLC., for general restoration and maintenance activities.

The documents included on the Environmental Compliance webpages have been posted to comply with applicable environmental requirements as part of LPO’s due diligence process for issuing a Department of Energy loan or loan guarantee. With the exception of a Record of Decision, the posting of these documents should not be construed as recommending a decision about the issuance of a loan or loan guarantee.
