I’m happy to live in Idaho where there are four seasons but most of all I love the fall. I was lucky to spend two beautiful days in Sun Valley attending a meeting at the Sun Valley Inn. October 24th and 25th were the dates of the fall ICP CAB meeting and though we were indoors for the meeting, there was some time to spend outdoors walking the leaf covered paths and watching the waterfowl.
The meeting was well attended by the CAB members but not so many of the public. I like to hear from and meet members of the public at the meetings. So if you are able to attend in the future I encourage you to come, if not in person, via virtual meeting.
I learn so much from the meetings, not only what is going on at the INL but also history of the area, current work and future plans. I am a retired Nurse Practitioner and though not familiar with the scientific aspects of the project I do have an interest in the public health aspect and am glad to hear of the care being given to not only community health but the safety aspects for the workers.
There was a new member orientation given by Mark Brown for the members who were onboarded during Covid as well as a good review for the veteran members. I appreciated the review of the Idaho Settlement Agreement and our mission to bring that forward with the milestones that have been met and those for near-term, intermediate and long-term goals. I especially liked the photos, graphics and videos.
The participation of representatives of the tribes means a lot to me since this land is their history and legacy.
There was a year in review from DOE representative Connie Flohr and some DOE perspectives.
I left the meeting Wednesday with new knowledge of what is happening at the site and the work being done by the dedicated people at DOE.
