U.S. Department of the Treasury, IRS Release Guidance on Hydrogen Production Credit

The U.S. Department of the Treasury and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) released proposed regulations on the Clean Hydrogen Production Credit established by the Inflation Reduction Act.

Today the U.S. Department of the Treasury and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) released proposed regulations on the Clean Hydrogen Production Credit established by the Inflation Reduction Act.

A notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) will be published in the Federal Register on December 26. All questions and comments should be submitted through the NPRM comment process during the official comment period.

DOE is providing resources on the Clean Hydrogen Production Credit, including a white paper and a new version of the Greenhouse gases, Regulated Emissions, and Energy use in Technologies model, 45VH2-GREET, which has been adopted by the U.S. Department of the Treasury to determine emissions rates for purposes of the Clean Hydrogen Production Tax Credit.
