DOE ordered Chigo Electrical Appliances (Chigo) to pay a $3,092,580 civil penalty after Chigo had manufactured and distributed in commerce in the U.S. multiple units of the noncompliant Chigo dehumidifiers. The Order adopted a Compromise Agreement, which reflected settlement terms between DOE and Chigo.
On September 10, 2018, DOE issued a Notice of Noncompliance Determination to Chigo finding that certain Chigo dehumidifiers do not comply with applicable energy/water conservation standards based on DOE testing. Chigo provided DOE records showing the number of units Chigo distributed.
