OCED recognizes the unique government-to-government relationship DOE has with American Indian and Alaska Native Tribal governments and seeks to place federal trust responsibilities at the heart of policy and decision-making processes as stated in DOE’s American Indian Policy (DOE Order 144.1). OCED strives to promote effective working relationships with federally recognized tribes through effective government-to-government consultation, partnerships, and meaningful engagement to fulfill its trust responsibilities to American Indian and Alaska Native Nations.
