On the morning of August 30, 2023, the eye of Hurricane Idalia made landfall along the coast of the Florida Big Bend, near Keaton Beach, as a Category 3 storm. The hurricane continued to produce high winds into northern Florida, southeastern Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina.
The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Energy Response Organization was activated from August 28-September 1, 2023, and Emergency Support Function #12 responders were deployed in support of Hurricane Idalia.
