The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Bioenergy Technologies Office (BETO) is committed to strengthening its relationships with aviation industry partners, including fuel producers, biofuel crop growers, researchers, academia, state/local/tribal governments, and others. The mission of this continued collaboration is to accelerate the growth of a domestic sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) industry that employs U.S. workers and strengthens U.S. manufacturing capacity, contributes to national energy security, aids economic growth in rural America, and supports a just transition to a low-carbon aviation future.

So, what do you get when you combine airplanes and bioenergy? The answer is SAF.

Register for the BRIDGES Bioenergy 101 webinar on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at 3 p.m. ET to learn about the Bioenergy Research and Education Bridge (BRIDGES) Program, a case study-based bioenergy education curriculum, that includes toolkits for four case studies covering SAF, upcycling plastics, bioenergy feedstocks, and waste-to-energy potential.

This BRIDGES webinar will focus on the SAF-related case study, Farm to Flight: Are Sustainable Aviation Fuels Good for the Environment? Panelists from DOE and national laboratories will:

  • Provide an overview of the BRIDGES program
  • Explain how to access the BRIDGES National Laboratory Case Study Toolkits
  • Conduct a walk-through of a SAF Case Study
  • Empower Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) teachers to facilitate learning with knowledge-building bioenergy curriculum

Join the BRIDGES Bioenergy 101 webinar to celebrate National Aviation Day! Please direct questions regarding this webinar to [email protected].

BRIDGES is a collaboration between BETO, Argonne National Laboratory, and Idaho National Laboratory, as well as education, community, industry, and other government partners.
