Dr. Cecilia Johnson-Hayman is a technology manager in the Emerging Technologies program in the U.S. DOE’s Building Technologies Office. She manages the building controls and the grid-edge portfolios, the latter of which includes Connected Communities. Connected Communities projects demonstrate the ability of coordinated energy-efficiency upgrades, demand flexible building loads, and distributed energy resources to decrease emissions, lower costs, improve resilience, and avoid electrical upgrades at the grid edge. Cecilia originally joined the Building Technologies Office as a Science and Technology Policy Fellow in January 2022 after completing her Ph.D. at the University of Washington.
