As part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the Grid Deployment Office is administering a $10.5 billion Grid Resilience and Innovation Partnership Program (GRIP) to enhance grid flexibility and improve the resilience of the power system against growing threats of extreme weather and climate change. Part of the Building a Better Grid Initiative, the GRIP program includes three financing mechanisms: Grid Resilience Utility and Industry Formula Grants, Smart Grid Grant Program, and the Grid Innovation Program.

Transmission Facilitation Program Solicitation Webinar

Join us for a webinar on Wednesday, November 30 at 1 pm ET for a webinar to learn about DOE’s Transmission Facilitation Program Request for Proposal

In support of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) developed a $2.5 billion Transmission Facilitation Program (TFP) that will help build out new interregional transmission lines across the country. The TFP, administered through the Building a Better Grid Initiative, is a revolving fund program that will provide Federal support to overcome the financial hurdles in the development of large-scale new transmission lines and upgrading existing transmission as well as the connection of microgrids in select States and U.S. territories.

On November 18, 2022, DOE issued a request for proposals for the first solicitation which is open to applicants seeking DOE capacity contracts committing to purchasing up to 50% of the maximum capacity of the transmission line. The submission deadline for the first phase is February 1, 2023.
