The software appearing on this list are approved to calculate whether a home acquired (by sale or lease) meets the energy-efficiency requirements for the 45L tax credit, subject to the noted restrictions based on building permit date. The DOE-Approved Software List below reflects the extension of the 45L tax credit for homes acquired after December 31, 2021 and before January 1, 2023 per the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022. The software approval process is different for homes acquired on or after January 1, 2023. This information is available on the Software Approval Process (2023 and Beyond) page.

A Homes certified with this DOE approved software version must have a building permit date before this expiration date. Note that there is also a date restriction for the retroactive application (i.e., not approved for use before date) of DOE-listed software validated against RESNET 001-2020, as described in the 8/26/2020 memo listed above. Also note that 45L certifications must adhere to all other IRS requirements including field verification provisions.
