DOE ordered Danby Products Inc. to pay a $96,588 civil penalty after Danby had manufactured and distributed in commerce in the U.S. multiple units of the noncompliant Danby brand clothes washer basic model #DWM055WBD. The Order adopted a Compromise Agreement, which reflected settlement terms between DOE and Danby.
On May 28, 2020, DOE issued a Notice of Noncompliance Determination to Danby finding that Danby brand clothes washer basic model #DWM055WBD does not comply with applicable energy conservation standards based on DOE testing. Danby provided DOE records showing the number of units Danby distributed.
