In particular, questions must identify the specific Department of Energy definition, test procedure, standard, or provision that is the subject of the inquiry, as well as the precise language in the regulations or relating industry standards about which clarification is sought.
The Department will respond to questions as promptly as possible. In general, we expect to post a guidance document (either draft or final) within 60 days after receipt of a properly formulated question. In order to provide additional clarify to all stakeholders, the Department reserves the right to re-formulate questions as it deems necessary. Please note, however, that technical information submitted to the Department on this website will often be posted along with the Department’s answer. Accordingly, please do not submit confidential business information.
Contact information is requested for the purpose of enabling the Department, first, to request further information or clarification about a question where necessary, and, second, to keep questioners apprised of the status of their inquiry. The Department will not post any identifying information on this website. Questioners who prefer to submit anonymously may do so. Please note, however, that this will limit the ability of the Department to reach you should further information or clarification be necessary.
