Advanced Energy Manufacturing and Recycling Grants

Overview

The Advanced Energy Manufacturing and Recycling Grants Program is designed to provide grants to small- and medium-sized manufacturers (SMMs) to enable them to build new or retrofit existing manufacturing and industrial facilities in communities where coal mines or coal power plants have closed. These facilities will produce or recycle advanced energy products or contribute to emissions reductions within the manufacturing sector.

Eligible Uses

To re-equip, expand, or establish a manufacturing or recycling facility for the production or recycling of advanced energy technologies (including clean electricity, industrial decarbonization, clean transportation, clean fuels, etc.) and low carbon materials; or to re-equip an industrial of manufacturing facility with equipment designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions of that facility.

Recipients

Manufacturing firm – the gross annual sales of which are less than $100,000,000; that has fewer than 500 employees at the plant site of the manufacturing firm; and the annual energy bills of which total more than $100,000 but less than $2,500,000.

Funding Source

This grant is funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL 40209), a long-overdue investment in our nation's infrastructure, workers, families, and competitiveness. BIL includes more than $62 billion for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to deliver a secure energy future for the American people.
