Washington, D.C. — U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer M. Granholm issued the following statement today following the U.S. Senate confirmation of Frank Rose by unanimous consent to serve as Principal Deputy Administrator of the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE):
“I am so grateful to the Senate for confirming Frank Rose to serve as Principal Deputy Administrator of the National Nuclear Security Administration. Frank brings unparalleled expertise in nuclear security and national defense, and he will be a tremendous asset as NNSA works to keep our nation and our world safe. I am thrilled that he’s willing to serve the American people once again, and we’re so excited to welcome him to DOE.”
About Frank Rose
Frank A. Rose is a senior fellow and co-director of the Center for Security, Strategy, and Technology in the Foreign Policy program at the Brookings Institution. Prior to joining Brookings, Rose served as U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Arms Control, Verification, and Compliance from 2014-2017. From 2009-2014, Rose served as the U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Space and Defense Policy. He has also held positions at the U.S. Department of Defense, in the U.S. Congress, and the private sector. Rose received his B.A. in History from American University in 1994 and a M.A. in War Studies from King’s College, University of London in 1999.
