October 1, 2020This month, the U.S. Testing Expertise and Access to Marine Energy Research (TEAMER) program selected 16 projects through its first Request for Technical Support (RFTS). Selected projects will receive technology support with modeling and analysis; laboratory and bench tests; and tank, flume, tunnel, and basin tests. Supported by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and directed by the Pacific Ocean Energy Trust (POET), TEAMER accelerates the viability of marine renewables by providing access to the nation’s best facilities and expertise in order to solve challenges, build knowledge, foster innovation, and drive commercialization.
The following projects will receive technical support:
- CalWave Power Technologies Inc. – CalWave Torque Spring Optimization; testing at Sandia National Laboratories
- CalWave Power Technologies Inc. – xWave Higher Order Dynamics and Autonomous Control Testing; testing at University of Maine
- Current Kinetics – Dynamometer Testing of a Novel Seawater Lubricated and Cooled MHK Turbine Generator; testing at Florida Atlantic University
- Dehlsen Associates – Additional Degree of Freedom for Wave Energy Converter (WEC); testing at Oregon State University’s Wallace Energy Systems & Renewables Facility
- Igiugig Village Council – A Tow Body Optical Camera System; testing at University of Washington’s Applied Physics Laboratory
- iMetalx Group – Ocean Observation Unmanned Vehicle Recharging Station; testing at National Renewable Energy Laboratory
