How to Use the Featured Item Paragraph

The Featured Item Paragraph highlights a link in the CMS on the top of Homepages and in Layout Builder . The Featured Item can either use or override the Title, Summary and Thumbnail from the Featured content it's linking to.

How to Add a Featured item Paragraph Reference:

Required Steps: 

  1. Select Add Paragraph Reference in the Layout Builder section
  2. Select Add Featured Item in the Configure Block popup's Paragraph Reference section. 
  3. Select the Item to feature by entering it in the Label field and selecting it. 
  4. Select the Color Scheme.​
    1.  Color schemes determine text color and to either completely disregard the image of the featured node, or to overlay a gradient on top of the image for textual clarity.
    2. A default texture will be used in the image Color Schemes if no node Thumbnail or Image Override exists.
  5. Select a layout style option from the dropdown.

  6. Click Add Block to finish adding the paragraph reference.

Advanced Steps:

  1. Select Add Paragraph Reference in the Layout Builder section
  2. Select Add Featured Item in the Configure Block popup's Paragraph Reference section. 
  3. Optional: Enter Block Heading to appear above the Featured item. 
    1. This is not the title used in the Featured Item itself
  4. Optional: change the Entity Type to "Media" to reference External Resources.
  5. Select the Item to feature by entering it in the Label field and selecting it. 
  6. Optional: Enter the Title Override to replace the title from the featured node. If the title is particularly long, we suggest using a more succinct title here.
  7. Optional: Enter the Summary Override to replace the summary from the featured node.
  8. Optional: Add an Image Override to replace Alternate Thumbnail. 
  9. Select the Color Scheme (Required).
    1. Color schemes determine text color and to either completely disregard the image of the featured node, or to overlay a gradient on top of the image for textual clarity.
    2. A default texture will be used in the image Color Schemes if no node Thumbnail or Image Override exists.
  10. Optional: Select the Make this shareable box if desired. 
  11. Select a layout style option from the dropdown.
