The FAST Commissioning for PSH Prize seeks novel solutions and technologies that address the non-regulatory challenges PSH developers face when deploying new storage projects. The deadline for the first stage of the prize has been extended to June 7, 2019.

PSH has an essential role in contributing to the resilience, reliability, and affordability of the U.S. power system. It is by far the largest source of energy storage on the grid, and it will play a key role to support increased integration of variable generation resources. But, large capital investments and long lead times required to get PSH projects commissioned serve as deterrents to would-be developers and utilities.
