Assessment of Fire Protection Program Implementation at the Hanford Site

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Nuclear Safety and Environmental Assessments, within the independent Office of Enterprise Assessments (EA), conducted an assessment of fire protection program (FPP) implementation at the Hanford Site Central Waste Complex (CWC) and T Plant, which are operated by CH2M HILL Plateau Remediation Company. EA also assessed the FPP implementation by Mission Support Alliance, LLC (MSA), which manages the Hanford Fire Department, emergency services, and infrastructure systems (e.g., water treatment and distribution systems). In addition, MSA performs inspections, tests, and maintenance on the fire protection systems in the CWC and the T Plant. This assessment was part of a series of targeted assessments of fire protection at nuclear facilities across the DOE complex.
