U.S. Secretary of Energy Rick Perry and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko Launch U.S.-Ukraine Strategic Energy Dialogue

New effort will facilitate closer cooperation between the United States and Ukraine both in the government and private sector.

KYIV, UKRAINE - Today, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and U.S. Secretary of Energy Rick Perry launched the U.S.-Ukraine Strategic Energy Dialogue, which will facilitate closer cooperation between the United States and Ukraine both in the government and private sector. The United States and Ukraine have successfully implemented a number of energy projects and initiatives relating to nuclear energy, natural gas, and coal, to date and the Secretary expressed to President Poroshenko that the U.S. looks forward to seeing this energy partnership continue to grow and benefit both of our nations’ economies.

In meetings today, Secretary Perry discussed with the President, the Prime Minister, and other Ukrainian officials, the importance of Ukraine taking action on matters such as Production Sharing Agreement, data sharing, regulatory predictability, and legal transparency as necessary steps for further U.S. investment.  

This is a historic time in Ukraine, a country that has tremendous potential in the field of energy. The United States government and the United States private sector stand ready to partner and cooperate with Ukraine to increase its energy security.
