On October 12, 2018, the Office of Hearings and Appeals (OHA) denied a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) appeal filed by Mr. Glenn Stephenson (Appellant) from a final determination issued by the Department of Energy's Office of Inspector General (OIG). On appeal, Appellant asserted that OIG inappropriately redacted an investigation summary document provided in response to his FOIA request pursuant to Exemptions 6 and 7(c). OHA concluded that the redacted information, which was limited to the names of individuals who cooperated with OIG's investigation and the OIG personnel involved in the investigation, was compiled for law enforcement purposes and its disclosure could reasonably be expected to constitute an unwarranted invasion of personal privacy pursuant to  Exemption 7(c). Accordingly, OHA denied Appellant's appeal. OHA Case No. FIA-18-0034.
