WASHINGTON, D.C.—Yesterday Secretary of Energy Rick Perry kicked off the World Gas Conference official events with a Keynote Address at the Opening Ceremonies. Secretary Perry’s remarks, as prepared can be read here.

After the Keynote Address, Secretary Perry participated in an Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) dialogue with Dr. Fabian Pok, Minister of Petroleum and Energy from Papua New Guinea. The discussion was moderated by energy expert, Daniel Yergin, and included other government and private sector representatives. In his remarks, Secretary Perry emphasized the mutual benefits of American LNG in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.

Later in the day, Secretary Perry had two additional meetings with foreign energy officials. The first was with U.S. Ambassador to Portugal, George Glass where Secretary Perry received an update on our bilateral energy relationship with Portugal. Later in the day, Secretary Perry hosted Russian Minister of Energy, Alexander Novak, at the Department. During the meeting the two leaders discussed the importance of continued a dialogue to promote stable, reliable, and transparent energy markets.
