Notice of Intent: Marine Hydrokinetic Technology Advancement and Data Dissemination

The Water Power Technologies Office plans to issue a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) in Quarter 3 of Fiscal Year 2018 to support marine and hydrokinetic (MHK) technology advancement and data dissemination through early-stage device design, controls, and power take-off design and integration and dissemination of environmental data and analyses. 

Funded research will further the development of MHK technologies and result in cost reduction by providing early-stage research and evaluation of next generation wave and tidal or current systems, supporting early stage design of power take-off and control systems, and developing tools and methodologies that capture recent advances in the scientific understanding of the environmental impacts of marine renewable energy. Innovative early-stage research provides scientific data to inform licensing and permitting decisions, which help reduce capital costs and deployment timelines.
