AMO Announces 13 Projects Selected to Help Industry Address High Performance Computing Challenges
The U.S. Department of Energy’s Advanced Manufacturing Office recently announced the funding of nearly $3.9 million for 13 projects under the third round of the High Performance Computing for Manufacturing (HPC4Mfg) Program. Led by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, the selected projects will receive up to $300,000 for one year to use national laboratory supercomputing resources and expertise to advance innovation in energy technology.
The HPC4Mfg Program is led by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in collaboration with Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Argonne National Laboratory, and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.
Learn more about how these 13 projects will inspire the use of high performance supercomputing to address manufacturing challenges.
DOE’s Small Business Vouchers Pilot Selects 38 Small Businesses for Lab Collaboration
The U.S. Department of Energy’s Small Business Vouchers (SBV) Pilot announced the selection of 38 new small business collaborations for its third round of the SBV Pilot, including 11 businesses selected by the Advanced Manufacturing Office, the highest among all R&D areas offered. These advanced manufacturing projects will focus on ways to improve manufacturing processes specifically by developing more efficient production methods for alloys, microchannel heat exchangers, semiconductors, extreme ultraviolet materials, nanocrystals, and lithium ion batteries, among others.
The U.S. Department of Energy Small Business Vouchers Pilot is a collaborative, national effort that provides vouchers for U.S. small businesses to work with National Laboratories. Vouchers range from $50-$300K and focus on nine advanced energy technology areas.
A full list of the SBV projects may be viewed here. Learn more about AMO’s projects here.
Two American Racing Legends: Bob Bondurant and the Shelby Cobra Reunited
Racing legend Bob Bondurant visited the Department of Energy and his old friend - the Shelby Cobra. However, unlike the model Bondurant drove when he won the World Manufacturers’ Championship in Europe, the model he reunited with was a 3D printed replica that was printed out of DOE’s Manufacturing Demonstration Facility at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
Read more about racecar legend Bob Bondurant’s trip to visit AMO’s 3D printed Shelby Cobra.
BLOG: Have an Energy Efficiency Question? Ask an Industry Expert at the Better Buildings Summit!
From March 15-17 in Washington, D.C., more than 900 attendees will gather at the Better Buildings Summit to showcase solutions to cut energy intensity of their buildings and business portfolio-wide by 20% over the next ten years. Additionally, one key benefit of attending this year’s Summit is the opportunity to speak directly with some of these nationally known subject-matter experts on a wide range of energy-related topics and systems at the “Ask an Expert” booth.
This year’s booth will include several Better Buildings, Better Plants partners offering information and insights in topics related to industrial energy and water efficiency. Get to know our group of experts here and register today.
