Project Objective

This project will develop a way to better understand and predict the occurrence of short circuits in OLED lighting panels, in order to reduce failure rates by means of new, more-informative panel diagnostics, a modeling capability to predict mean time to failure, and new anti-shorting strategies that address the root cause of the problem.

Project Impact

As OLED lighting becomes commercially viable, one of the issues will be shorting within the device, which reduces product lifetime by causing catastrophic failure. This project will increase the understanding of what causes those shorts, so that they can be minimized through proper design, thus increasing the lifetime of OLED lighting.
