From being part of the initial cohort of female officers serving onboard U.S. submarines to taking a plunge in the Antarctic Ocean; NNSA Defense Programs’ Erica Leinmiller is a cool person all around.
Recently, an NNSA-affiliated team collaborated on a Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization-sponsored challenge to understand how emissions from civil nuclear facilities are received at detection stations.
"My advice for young women and girls interested in a career like mine is to work smart and take advantage of opportunities to advance. Focus on the skills that make you unique," says Chinazor S. Azubike, PhD.
Last month, NNSA and the Kazakhstan Ministry of Energy’s Committee for Atomic and Energy Supervision and Control enhanced their longstanding relationship with a signed joint statement on cooperation in emergency preparedness and response.
Earlier this year, members of NNSA’s Nuclear Incident Policy and Cooperation team participated in a course-development workshop with counterparts from around NATO at the Crisis Management and Disaster Response Centre of Excellence in Sofia, Bulgaria.
